Mann: Text (feat. JASON DERULO)/[Update] Jason Derulo: Popular
Just like I said Jason Derulo is a star. Just look at the way he kills this chorus. Who the hell is "Mann"? That's the name you came up with? But the point is who cares, he's a genius for getting Derulo on his song cuz this guy is "what's next in music"{shameless plug of the day}.
It's good to know that all of these up and coming artists are reading One Night religiously and taking my advice to heart because if I've said it once I've said it a thousand times, if you have even just a tiny tiny bit of talent all you have to do is get an R&B star to do your hook over a cool beat then just do your best to fill the space in between. Mann may not be very good at picking his name but he's sure got some savvy goin with my boy Jason Derulo here.
I have a feeling that we are witnessing the first Bangkok supported artist to go big time right before our eyes. I don't care what you say but I'm absolutely positive that 99-100% of you heard of Jason Derulo here first. He's not on any other blogs except one, I haven't heard of him anywhere on the internet, it's like the guy doesn't even exist except for right here so if he's smart then he should hop on to http://onenightnbangkok.com and hit that little "Donate" button up on the top left.

Dorrough: Ice Cream Paint Job (Official Remix)
Featuring Soulja Boy, JD, E-40, Jim Jones, Slim Thug, & Rich Boy
Seriously what blackmail material does Jermaine Dupri have on people in the rap industry that he keeps getting featured on songs? He's terrible, he's like one of those people that goes on American Idol and absolutely sucks but in their own mind they think they are great because people have been too scared to tell them that they suck and no one has ever put them in their place. Well somebody has gotta tell this guy to stick to producing and never touch a microphone again.

Lil' Mama Hits the Nail on the Head
It's in times of extreme sorrow and depression that I turn to my two sources of comfort, my binded copy of King James' Bible and the words of Lil' Mama. Since Michael Jackson's death I've been desperately flipping through the good book looking for the verse or psalm that could soothe my soul and dry my tears and help me to understand why God would do this to us but to no avail.
Then just when I thought I was out of luck mega-celebrity Lil' Mama had to chance to say what I think has been on everyone's mind since the death of the King of Pop: this is just like that time that Jesus died.
I know, I know, it's insulting to the memory of Michael Jackson to compare him to someone as low as Jesus Christ, but what other comparisons are there? Lil' Mama was just trying to do what she does best and comfort the billions of people ready to leap from their rooftops because they've lost the will to go on.
Because, you know, "the story that they gave of that man [Jesus], he touched so many people and healed people, and Michael Jackson did the same thing, not only with his music but with his performance and his personality."
If I had a dollar for every time I heard of Michael Jackson turning water into wine and healing the sick and walking on water I'd be a rich rich man, and we shouldn't despair anymore because now we know that obviously he can just rise from the dead on Easter. And he certainly touched people. Many, many people. Thank you Lil' Mama.
BUZZLINE.TV: "WHAT'S NEXT IN MUSIC"
So I'm working for NexCom Media on one of their new projects called Buzzline.TV focusing on What's Next In Music. The website is in development right now (you can check it out at www.Buzzline.tv to see the basic idea but it's not fully functioning yet) and we are trying to build up a fan base so if you have a second please become a fan on Facebook, it literally takes 2 clicks...just click the link below then click "Become a Fan." If you didn't just stumble here by accident and actually like the site then you will like Buzzline too, it's the same basic concept except it's a legitimate business and not a shitty independent blog like One Night.

BANGKOK TEN [BLOG SNOB MIX] VOL. I
The main purpose of this site is pregame music but sometimes when it's a slow day we can take the time to appreciate some different types of music. The following are songs that the casual music fans have probably never heard of but anyone who follows music blogs has known for months and months so I apologize to those people you can just skip right over this but I'm pretty sure that most of you will find these songs new. I spent a lot of time on Hype Machine over the past few weeks and these are some of the more popular (and the best) songs floating around the internet.
Check them out I know you're the man but you're not too cool to listen to some indie rock or electro every now and then and let's face it you don't want Flo Rida blaring out of your headphones every second of the day sometimes you just want to relax a little.
1) Fleet Foxes: Mykonos
I had to check to make sure this was actually a new-ish song because it sounds so old school, just listen to the beginning and the lead singer's voice...I love this.
2) Florence & The Machine: Cosmic Love, Postcards From Italy, Howl
Everyone knows I'm a sucker for a chick with a great voice and this 22 year old British girl is niiiiiice.
3) The Gossip: Heavy Cross, For Keeps
Do me a favor and don't look up anything about the band. Don't Google Image the lead singer no matter what you do. Trust me just listen to the music and you'll thank me for the advice.
4) Dirty Projectors: Stillness Is The Move
5) Discovery: So Insane, I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend
6) Harlem Shakes: Sunlight
7) Phoenix: Lisztomania
Probably the best know band on this list, starting to get mainstream, recently played on some late night talk show
8) Grizzly Bear: Two Weeks
Probably the second best known
9) Peter Bjorn & John: Nothing to Worry About
Kanye loves this song
10) Animal Collective: My Girls
This is where I show my non-blog-snob colors...this song was #1 on more than one "Top Songs of 2009" lists, people are drooling and passing out from this song. I think it's good but I just don't see why the extreme hype.
Lady GaGa: Second Time Around
Lady GaGa is one of the few artists out right now that I will automatically click to download their song without even listening to it. For every 1 song I post there are 20 that I clicked on, listened to, and checked out to see if they were good so I can save some valuable disk space on my Macintosh computer. About 1% go on the site.
I think the list of "automatic downloads" is Lady GaGa, Kanye, Lil' Wayne, Chiddy Bang...there may be a few more but those are the definites.
I have a feeling some people are gonna hate on this song because it's no club banger like "Poker Face" or "Just Dance," but it's a great song and if you play it loud you can really get into it. Also make sure you get it quick because Lady GaGa doesn't like to promote herself by sharing her music through the internet and it always gets taken off quickly.
Also how hilarious is this picture? The first week of Bangkok's existence I had a poll for "Is Lady GaGa hot?" and the overwhelming answer was "Butter Face." I wrote a thing complaining about how you can never see her face in pictures, and now look at this one...she's got bangs, sunglasses, and a hand up there, you can see like 1 inch of her cheek and lower chin.

Mr. Hudson: Anyone But Him (feat. Kanye West)
I really like Mr. Hudson and I like these two new songs a lot...a lot of that has to do
just with the fact that he's something different and something new when it seems
like everything has been so generic recently. I'm curious to see if this guy gets popular in the U.S., he's set up to be huge with Kanye backing him but I don't know how people will feel about him.

Mr. Hudson: Everything Is Broken (feat. Kid CuDi)
Kanye's boy is back with his second single off "Straight No Chaser"
It's not incredible but it's solid, the album sampler off of his website had
a lot better songs on it so I dunno why he went with this song but it's still
good, check it out

Otis Taylor: Ten Million Slaves
Every now and then we post a song that doesn't fit into the Bangkok
norm and this is one of those instances.
I saw Public Enemies over the weekend and while the movie was really
disappointing, this song by Otis Taylor was in it and was awesome. They
use it in the trailer too, a perfect example of how the right song can really
make the trailer and enhance a movie.
Don't see the movie (we had more fun reading the Wikipedia page of John
Dillinger after seeing the movie than actually watching it) but definitely
get this song.

Proton: Fuck The Economy
Nice little song here from the Atlanta duo...it would be more exciting if it didn't sound exactly like the Cool Kids, New Boyz, and every other hipster-ish rap duo that's soooooo in right now
Also the beginning says "baby I'm a Gemini do ya dig astronomy?"
Come on dude get your shit straight, that's astrOLOGY
But yeah I'm a gemini

Michael Jackson & Lil' Wayne: Dirty Diana (Dem Jointz Remix)
If you think there have been a lot of MJ remix posts on here lately then you should check out the internet, there are literally thousands of mash-ups and remixes that have come out since his death and sifting through all of them is annoying because 99% of them suck
It sucks that it took him dying to make me remember how great his music was. Here's a good remix of Dirty Diana with Wayne's verse from "Good Girl Gone Bad."
